EDEN 2.0
The second work in the series manifests as a sculptural tableau, meticulously crafted from plaster. Two gilded faces - Adam and Eve -, and the gilded serpent, serve as central figures, each finished with luminous gold leaf, embodying both sacred history and timeless temptation. Vintage wallpaper elements visually connect the work to the Paper Gods series, uniting the themes of ancient wisdom and modern peril.
The composition unfolds in two symbolic realms. The upper section is a vision of divine promise: painted wallpaper imagery depicts the return of Christ astride a white horse, leading an army of angels. This triumphant scene radiates hope, justice, and the restoration of divine order. In stark contrast, the lower section plunges into shadow - a representation of the AI-Humans, who dwell in the darkness of technological overreach and spiritual estrangement. Here, epoxy resin-cast flowers, plants, and insects are interwoven with painted and cut wallpaper, alongside shaped painted cotton forms. Amidst this uneasy beauty, a hand emerges, offering the AI-apple - the ultimate choice, the irreversible act that alters the course of humanity. Together, these elements create a work that is both cautionary and visionary, a contemporary re-imagining of the Garden of Eden, where the stakes are no longer merely the knowledge of good and evil, but the very nature of what it means to be human.
