Birth Right

BIRTHRIGHT is part of an ongoing artistic journey that continues to challenge and expand my long-held beliefs.Through years of exploration—deeply intertwined with personal experiences of loss, renewal, and transformation—I have sought to understand humanity’s origins and the unseen forces that shape our existence.

My research into ancient Sumerian civilization first sparked a realization: that the beginnings of human evolution and consciousness may trace back further and deeper than we imagine. This esoteric study gradually led me to re-examine the Catholic faith I was raised in and once viewed as the sole path to enlightenment. The I Ching, or Book of Changes, also informs this understanding. Its 64 intricate hexagrams form a vast system of symbolic wisdom—a philosophy I have only begun to explore. Alongside this, my curiosity extends into the spiritual and artistic traditions of many ancient cultures around the world.

BIRTHRIGHT is constructed from found and created materials—wallpaper cut outs, plaster, paint, and gold leaf—combined into a layered, symbolic tableau. At its center, a fetus receives the soul: the divine spark entering form. The figure, cast in plaster and gilded in gold leaf, is surrounded by resin flowers, birds, and painted ornamentation within a wood frame also touched with gold.
